tereka

Give every naira a purpose.

Type your salary. See what lands after tax. Split it into 3 simple cups. Then check in once a day. It takes 5 seconds.

Try 350,000. Watch the cups fill.

  • Free. No account needed
  • Your plan stays on your device
  • We never hold your money

How it works

  1. Plan

Type your salary. We show what you take home after tax. Then we suggest a split that fits your pay.

  2. Fill on payday

Salary is in? Move each cup's money to its own account or savings pocket. Keep your plan as a PDF.

  3. Track

Log what you spend in seconds. Each cup goes down as you spend. You see the problem before month end.

Start with 3 cups

Every naira you take home goes into one of these cups. The split changes with your pay. Want more control? Switch to Steady (5 cups) or Full Option (8) any time.

What each cup is forDaily life, Family & giving, Stash

Someone on ₦100k needs more for living costs than someone on ₦1m. So the split changes with your pay.

Plan vs spent, in your own Google Sheet

Sign in with Google. Your tracker becomes a sheet in your Drive. A cup turns red when you spend too much. New phone? Sign in and everything comes back. We only open sheets Tereka made. Never the rest of your Drive.

    Questions

    Is this really free?

Yes. No fees, no paid plan, no ads. It all runs on your device, so we have no servers to pay for.

    Do I need an account?

No. Everything works without one. Your plan stays on this device. Sign in with Google? Your plan and spending go to a sheet in your Drive. Then you can open it on any phone or laptop.

    Where does my data go?

It stays on your device. We have no database, and we never see your numbers. Sign in with Google, and it also goes to your own Drive. Tereka can only open sheets it made. If you clear your browser, the copy on your device goes. So sign in if you want a backup. Sharing a phone? Tap Sign out and clear this device. You can also choose to share an anonymous summary (see below).

How is my tax worked out?

We use the Nigeria Tax Act 2025. It started on 1 January 2026.

    • After pension and reliefs, your first ₦800,000 a year is not taxed.
    • After that, tax goes up in steps: 15%, 18%, 21%, 23%, then 25%.
    • We take out pension first. That is 8% of your salary, unless you type your real amount.
    • We also take out NHF if you pay it.
    • 20% of your rent comes off the pay that gets taxed, up to ₦500,000 a year.
    • On minimum wage or less? You pay no tax.

This is a guide. Your payslip can be different. For exact numbers, ask HR or a tax expert.

Can I paste my bank alerts instead of typing?

Yes. In the tracker, tap Paste alerts. Paste your debit alerts from SMS, email or your bank app. Your phone reads the amount, date and details. It guesses the cup. You check it before you add it. We ignore account numbers and balances. We never save them. Credit alerts are skipped.

    More questions
I changed phones. How do I get my plan back?

Open Tereka on the new phone. Tap Sign in with the same Google account. Your plans and spending come back from your Google Sheet.

Why does my split depend on my pay?

Because rent and food don't get cheaper when pay is small. Take home under ₦150,000? Living costs starts at 70%. From ₦1m, it starts at 32%, and Investment grows. Tell us your must-pay bills (rent, food, transport). We raise Living costs to cover them. You can change everything.

What happens when I move a slider?

The other cups adjust, so the total stays at 100%. Want one cup to stay still? Tap its lock.

Can I change my plan later?

Yes. Open My plan and edit it any time. Maybe you got a raise, new rent or a new goal. The new plan starts this month. Past months keep their old plan.

How do I get the PDF?

On your plan, tap Download PDF. The print screen opens. Choose Save as PDF. Page two is a tracker you can print and fill by hand.

Why 3 cups? Can I have more?

Three cups cover your whole money life: Daily life (what you spend in the month, enjoyment included), Family & giving, and Stash (money you don't touch). Want more control? Steady gives you 5 cups and Full Option all 8: Living costs, Giving, Emergency, Investment, Learning, Savings, Project and Leisure. Switch any time. Nothing is lost.

    Do you collect my data?

Only if you say yes. You can share an anonymous summary each month. It has your state, age group, pay group and how full each cup got. Never your name, email, naira amounts or what you bought. We use it for free reports on how Nigerians spend. You can stop and delete it any time. See the privacy page.

    Is this financial advice?

No. Tereka is a planning tool. It shows you your own numbers. For investments, tax or debt, talk to a licensed expert.

    Can I scan a receipt?

Yes. In the tracker, tap Scan a receipt and take a photo. Your phone reads the total, date and shop name. The photo never leaves your device. Check the amount, pick the cup, then tap Log spending. The first scan downloads a free reader (about 5 MB). You need data only that once.

    What is the daily streak?

Log a spend, or tap No spend today. Your streak goes up by one day. It takes 30 seconds. It helps you catch small leaks early. You can add a daily reminder to your calendar. Your streak stays on your device only.

    Why Tereka exists

Most young Nigerians are not bad with money. Their salary just never gets a plan.

On payday, give every naira a job before you spend. Eight cups, one plan. Tereka plans and tracks your money. It never holds it. No bank login. No BVN. No wallet.

    The longer story

Salary lands. By week three, it is gone. Rent, food, transport, family, small enjoyment. Most money apps want you to log every kobo. Many people give up by week two.

Cups work the other way. Plan first, then spend. Living costs are covered. Emergency money grows. Investing starts. And Leisure lets you enjoy, with no guilt.

Tereka means to save, to keep in Luganda. It started in Starting Out. There, young Nigerians learn about work and money from people a few years ahead.
